A MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT NAYLOR

Dear families and friends...President Naylor with students

Welcome! We know that many of you would like to know more about U of T, what is happening on campus, what options are available for students and what life at U of T is really like. I hope that this website will provide a few insights and answers. Let me take a moment to introduce the website.

Thank you

First of all, thank you for supporting your University of Toronto student (or students!). At U of T, we recognize that families are an important part of most students' success in education. We are delighted that your student has chosen to study at U of T and it is a privilege to contribute to his or her education.

Hundreds of Opportunities

I hope you will encourage your student to get involved with campus life both inside and outside the classroom, resulting in personal growth and new friendships. Participation in these kinds of activities is an important part of the undergraduate experience.

Please take some time to learn about the hundreds of opportunities and services we provide. Across our three campuses, the University of Toronto offers more classes, more clubs, more student organizations, more facilities, and more possibilities for students than any other university in Canada. The scope of opportunity here is simply incredible.

Support

The University of Toronto makes an extraordinary range of services available to its students. These can be a vital source of support should your student encounter any difficulties during their studies – academic, financial, or health-related. Our many student affairs professionals and advisors – on each campus, in Registrars' and department offices, in student services and student life offices – are also wonderful sources of advice on personal matters both large and small.

A welcoming community

It is my hope that, over time, this website will evolve into a supportive, helpful and informative online community. It will be a place for families and friends to learn about U of T, to find answers to their questions – and to ask questions of their own. We are also considering special lectures, events and other possibilities. In short, I hope this will be a way for us to work together to enhance the joint experience of the students who attend the University and of those who care about them.

Although most of the information on this website is in English, we have translated this message into the languages spoken most frequently in the homes of our students. We want to ensure that every family knows that we appreciate their support and that we are honoured to play a part in the education of their student.

On behalf of the University of Toronto, I wish you, your family, and your U of T student every success.

Best wishes.

Yours sincerely,

David Naylor OC MD DPhil FRSC
